Fiona Cherbak, Talent Acquisition Lead, Sony PlayStation Worldwide Studios

Fiona Cherbak is a senior games industry staffing professional, with experience driving hiring teams, and developing hiring strategies and campaigns for a broad cross-section of global game companies and organizations. Fiona has provided recruiting team management and recruiting services for Take Two, Activision, Disney, Electronic Arts, NCsoft and Sony. Fiona was previously Senior Staffing Specialist for Gameloft, Certain Affinity and Irrational Games, and Senior Talent Acquisition Manager for Tencent Boston. Fiona is currently Talent Acquisition Lead, Worldwide Studios for Sony Interactive Entertainment America.

Fiona is former chairperson of IGDA Women in Games SIG, a founding member and producer of Women in Games International, co-creator of GameMentorOnline, and partnership advisor for the European Women in Games Conference and Women in Games Jobs in the U.K. She presented a “hiring and retaining women in games” panel at GDC 2015 in San Francisco, and reprised the same panel at GDC Europe in Cologne, Germany in August 2015. In 2017, she gave two talks at GDC in San Francisco on diversity networking and career development.

Fiona speaks at college campuses across the U.S., including USC Games, MIT and Savannah College of Art & Design. She has been a regular speaker at PAX, GDC, GDC Europe and GDC’s Game Career Seminar series, plus an advisory board member and speaker for SXSW Interactive, AIGA and SIGGRAPH. She wrote the oft-re-published 2006 article, “The Game Industry’s 100 Most Influential Women," for Edge Magazine, and has been published in four game industry books, including a 2014 U.K. university textbook. She has been interviewed extensively by both industry and mainstream press, including a profile interview for Fast Company magazine in 2005.

As a member of the indie games community, Fiona is co-founder and prior executive producer of the Boston Festival of Indie Games, now in its 7th year, and prior advisor to national indie game events IndieCade and Fantastic Arcade. Fiona was part of a “women in games” initiative developed under the auspices of Obama’s U.S. White House in 2015.
